The feedback, proofreading & editing, and support you need to write
your Deaf characters successfully.
Blair is communicative, honest and professional in providing the feedback you need to hear about your writing. I believe the critical analysis you’ll receive is worth the investment for any writer serious about their work. If you’ve created a character who lives outside your personal experience, I highly recommend using his service.

Why a Deaf Sensitivity Reader is vital to your editing process –
There are a lot of potentially explosive landmines when writers cluelessly set out to write about Deaf people or Deaf culture. Not to mention, with writing, a lot can be lost in translation or is misrepresented. (E.g.: Cochlear implants, hearing aids, levels of Deafness, speech, ASL, mainstreaming, perpetuating harmful stereotypes, etc.)
Blair helps you cultivate convincing and believable characters as they navigate the world you created, while retaining the everyday realities of a Deaf person in a hearing world encouraging inclusivity without perpetuating harmful stereotypes.
Working with Blair on this project has been amazing on many levels. Blair took the time to learn about my character’s background, and ask questions to do with my motivation for including them. Blair didn’t just provide singular, character-driven feedback, but taught me more widely how to significantly improve my passive inclusion when writing. Furthermore, I am able to apply this learning to any future projects that may include a Deaf person, and for that I am very grateful.
